Ken Ripich, Executive Vice President of AT&F, recently coordinated a donation to Prayers From Maria – a foundation dedicated to providing childhood cancer patients with the support they desperately need, by reversing the tragic lack of funding and fueling the most meaningful brain cancer research for kids. The rate of curable childhood brain tumors is much lower than that for many other types of cancer. The general public is largely unaware of the magnitude of this disease.

AT&F is committed to making the world a better place both inside the world of metal fabrication and out of it. By donating to Prayers From Maria, AT&F hopes to make a contribution to alleviate the suffering of children and families who struggle with childhood glioma tumors. The current scope of research is severely underfunded, and thus, every contribution makes an impact on generating hope. AT&F is one of many organizations that wishes to end deadly childhood brain tumors by funding more research and raising awareness.

Wounded Warrior to Announce Pick in 2021 NFL Draft

For several years, AT&F has been a proud partner of the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization that supports veterans and active duty service members.

Wounded warrior Barry Pettit from Brook Park, Ohio will be announcing one of the picks for the Denver Bronco’s in the NFL draft this week. This selection will be made in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, May 1st. Barry was injured in Iraq when serving as a Combat Engineer for 13 years. After being medically retired, he joined the Wounded Warrior Project in 2014 to reconnect with and serve fellow warriors. AT&F is incredibly proud of Barry for his bravery and we are excited to root him on as he makes his pick this weekend.

To showcase the Company’s respect for the men and women of our armed forces, AT&F donates crafted trophies to the organization that are laser-cut and welded from stainless steel. AT&F is also a member of the Wounded Warrior Project’s “Warriors to Work” program, helping employ veterans and bring their valuable skills to our enterprise.

AT&F Upgrades Lasers to 10K Fiber Optic

Through the efforts of Komatsu and their valued supply base, a significant number of homes have been built for individuals and families in need. This machine will be capable of joining multiple sections of material together, with lengths exceeding 75 feet and widths exceeding 10 feet. Customers are thrilled that AT&F will be able to offer high volume "welded wide" material from their Cleveland facility. How Accelerated Bridge Construction Keeps America Moving

Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) is a process of minimizing bridge construction times and subsequent outages. It is a shift in project planning approaches which streamlines the construction process and allows for improvements in several areas of construction.

AT&F Bridge Components

Costs can be broken into several different categories.

Structural Cost is the actual cost of the structure itself. The cost of all the components included in the construction of the bridge.
Onsite Construction Time is the cost of time and labor involved in the construction of a bridge.
Mobility Impact Time is the cost of lost productivity and efficiency due to the outage of a bridge. e. the additional costs added to a shipping route due to its detour from a normal route.

Prefabricated Bridge Elements and Systems(PBES) are the primary driver behind ABC. Traditional construction follows a linear model: pier foundations and abutments built, beams fixed in place, decks cast and poured. With the PBES method, structural components are built offsite. Fabricating these components offsite can lower both the Onsite Construction Time and Mobility Impact Time of projects. These components can be assembled into modular pieces and shipped to site and rapidly installed. According to FHWA, a combination of contracting strategy and PBES saved $30 million in only nine bridge replacements across the U.S.

Safety procedures are improved with PBES, as less construction takes place in the roadway or near moving traffic. Construction time and consequent worker exposure is cut to a minimal amount.

Environmental Impact is lessened with ABC as less equipment is brought to a bridge repair site. Construction in sensitive ecosystems is not disrupted and environmental footprints are reduced.

Benefits:

There are also two important costs to consider: the significant upfront investment of the machine and unpredictable costs related to research, operations training, and maintenance.
